	Monoprint Series - Leeds Abstract
Monoprint, Collagraph &#38;amp; Screen Print
2021
Leeds, UK.
These recent prints feature a non-toxic resist that I have developed whilst preparing and delivering educational workshops in monoprint and collagraph. I have developed a body of work that presents these recurring motifs and images, owing to what might be termed a ‘memory’ in the printing plates. These images, marks, lines or ‘memories’ function as palimpsests. By experimenting with different papers, I have found that some papers absorb and retain more ink than others, creating photographic qualities. This series consists of over 60 iterations, of which I have selected and presented three here. I use contrasting elements to create a sense of in-betweenness, dwelling in the balance between opacity and disclosure, as well as negative and positive spaces. In a wider sense, it connects with my interests in legibility and processing large quantities of information in today's technologically driven era.

Chance Compositions in PlasticScreen Prints, Resin and Silicone
Leeds, UK
April 2022
These pieces contain fragments, motifs and shapes, capturing unique images, both static and moving.&#38;nbsp; Each composition embodies a deliberate dialogue between form and printmaking. I consider the language, boundaries, and aesthetics of the printed image, exploring themes of illegibility, obscurity and privacy.

		<description>Mary Gibbons
Bradford &#38;amp; Leeds, UK.

I am a multidisciplinary artist based in Bradford. My practice combines traditionally made silkscreen prints, monoprints, collagraphs and some sculptural processes such as woodcuts and epoxy resin. My exploratory approach to printmaking consists of altering formal ways of working in printmaking, through a system repeat process in order to create chance compositions and printed surfaces. I completed my masters degree in Fine Art from the University Of Central Lancashire in 2022.Importantly, my wide-ranging experience of teaching printmaking processes at Universities, Schools and Print Workshops informs and inspires my practice whilst contributing to the collaborative ethos of the printmaking community. I see print rooms as spaces for collective making, as well as discussion and display: I have collaborated with students and participants to create monoprints, posters, zines and books at London College of Communication, Leeds Beckett University, Leeds Arts University, Carlton Bolling Bradford, National Media Museum Schools Programme, Bradford, WYPW and Leeds Print Workshop. My work delves into the language, boundaries, and aesthetics of the printed image, exploring themes of illegibility, obscurity and privacy. The artworks emerging from my interdisciplinary approach seek to experiment with the methods by which images are constructed. Grounded in physicality, my artistic expression is connected to the materiality of printed surfaces and how they may be presented and interpreted.
